Henrike Knorr, member of the Royal Academy of Basque Language and professor of Basque Filology has died




Remembering the time we spent with him discussing literature, we would like to express our deepest condonlences to his family.




The international impact that Basque literature has and could have will be examined at the University of Nevada at Reno in a conference scheduled for May

The Center for Basque Studies has organized the session, in which well-known American and European professors will take part, as will several Basque writers

The Center for Basque Studies of the University of Nevada at Reno will host a conference entitled Writers in between Languages. Minority Literatures in the Global Scene on May 15-17. A number of well-known American and European professors will take part in the conference, including Nerea Arruti (University of Aberdeen, Scotland), Luisa-Elena Delgado (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Luis Fernandez Cifuentes (Harvard University), Víctor García de la Concha (University of Salamanca, Erret Academy of the Spanish Language), Annabel Martin (Dartmouth College), Marijose Olaziregi (University of Nevada/University of the Basque Country), Xavier Pla (University of Girona), Joan Ramón Resina (Stanford University), Mario Santana (University of Chicago), Alfredo J. Sosa-Velasco (University of Cincinnati), Michael Ugarte (University of Missouri) and Teresa Vilarós-Soler (University of Aberdeen, Scotland). Additionally, the Basque writers Bernardo Atxaga (currently in Reno as a guest of the Center for Basque Studies), Aurelia Arkotxa, Rikardo Arregi, Mariasun Landa, Miren Agur Meabe and Iban Zaldua will also participate in the conference.
