The Eleventh Igartza Literary Creation Scholarship is now accepting submissions

The scholarship carries an award of 6,000 euros

The Beasain City Council, in conjunction with the CAF company of Beasain and the publishing house Elkar, is now calling for submissions for the Eleventh Igartza Literary Creation Scholarship. The scholarship carries an award of 6,000 euros and is open to the public. However, since it is aimed at new writers, applicants must be younger than 35 when their work is submitted and must not have previously published more than two books. The scholarship will consider original unpublished narrative works (novels or collections of stories) written in Basque that have not been submitted elsewhere. Applicants must submit four copies of their work and their real name must not appear on it. Additionally, a 2- to 4-page summary of the work in question, including a description of its main characteristics (structure, length, style, etc.) must accompany all submissions. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2008. Applicants should send their work to the following address:
