Ander Iturriotz (Ordizia, Gipuzkoa, 1961) has been appointed president of the Basque Writers’ Association (Euskal Idazleen Elkartea, EIE). Working with him, another six writers will form the Board of Directors: Castillo Suarez, Aitor Txarterina, Juan Mari Apaolaza, Carmen Valois, Josu Jimenez Maia and Ińaki Frierak, of whom the first two were previous members of the board, and the remaining four were elected yesterday.

Ander Iturriotz Lauzirika holds a doctorate in sociology and is a professor at the University of the Basque Country. He has written five books: narrative works Burundak (short stories), Goierri I. Berrogeita hiru heiagora (Goierri I. Forty-three screams) and Goierri II. Odolezko oskaisto denero (Goierri II. Every Time There is a Stormy Blood-Red Sky), all published by Haranburu in the 1980s; a volume of poetry, Mugaren ariketa (Border Exercise) (Elkar), and essay Boterea gizarte homerikoan (Power in the Homeric Society) (Utriusque Vasconiae, 2002). He has also participated in other forums, writing articles and offering his opinions.
