The International Poetry Festival, “Askoren Izenean: Pido la Paz y la Palabra” (“In the Name of Many, I Ask for Peace and the Word”), is expected to welcome more than 50 poets

The festival will take place on June 7-10 in San Sebastian, Bilbao and Vitoria

More than 50 well-known poets will reflect on coexistence, freedom and the deligitimization of violence during the International Poetry Festival, “Askoren Izenean: Pido la Paz y la Palabra” (“In the Name of Many, I Ask for Peace and the Word”). In a cultural reflection on overcoming conflicts and on human rights, some twenty poets from Iraq, Pakistan, Colombia, Mexico, Turkey, Cameroon and Vietnam, among other countries, together with various Basque creators, will participate in the events scheduled for San Sebastian and Vitoria on June 7 and 8, and for Bilbao on June 9 and 10. The Basque authors who will take part include Bernardo Atxaga, Kirmen Uribe, Miren Agur Meabe and Gerardo Markuleta, among others. With respect to international poets, the International Poetry Festival, “Askoren Izenean: Pido la Paz y la Palabra” (“In the Name of Many, I Ask for Peace and the Word”) is pleased to include Douglas Dunn (Scotland), Anne Crowe (England), Jack Hirschmann (United States), Pia Tafdrup (Denmark), Karen Connelly (Canada), Lello Voce (Italy), Nguyen Quang Thieu (Vietnam), Werewere Liking (Cameroon), Ataol Behramoglu (Turkey), Zakaria Mohammed (Palestine), Saadi Yousef (Iraq), Chiranan Pitpreecha (Thailand), Natalia Toledo (Mexico), Gabriel Jaime Franco (Colombia), Álvaro Miranda (Colombia), Cristina Peri Rossi (Uruguay), Antonio Tello (Argentina) and Rafael Cadenas (Venezuela).
